Tommy, Kaelyn, and Rylan were the perfect models on this October evening! Working through their images, I feel like I’m flipping through a LL Bean catalogue! All the perfectly cozy sweaters and colors make me wish autumn would last a little longer each year!

Family is a precious thing, and not something anyone should take for granted. I understand there are extenuating circumstances where family is not what it should be. I may talk on that more in the future; however, for now, I’d like to focus on the positives.

When I think about the start of family, I think about new marriages. The commitment to love and serve one another till death parts you. Then, perhaps all of a sudden or after many years of prayer and tears, there’s an extra little blue line that signals your family is growing! When you see those first few signs, there may be excitement mingled with disbelief or there may just be a river of tears of joy and relief!

I believe “the family journey” is one of the places where we witness “weep with those who weep and rejoice with those who rejoice” in action. When your friend is expecting a baby with seemingly no trouble at all while you are left pining, waiting, and praying. It’s those circumstances where we have an opportunity to come along side one another, mingling joy and grief.

This is just the tip of an iceberg. There are so many elements to “family” that we’ll have to talk more about on a different day. For now, let’s be reminded what a gift new life is, and look for opportunities to come alongside one another on our journey to family.
